About Pd-extended
Pd-extended is a fork of Pure Data that integrates better with
the OS, and provides an easy-to-install and thorough assembly of
available libraries, extensions, and documentation. This is the
final release, and is not maintained.
IMPORTANT: Running Pd-extended under Flatpak is experimental.
The following are known limitations.
Realtime priority cannot be used.
JACK audio backend cannot be used.
Packages from puredata.info do not have these limitations.
Pure Data is an open source visual programming environment that runs on
anything from personal computers to embedded devices (ie Raspberry Pi)
and smartphones (via libpd, DroidParty (Android), and PdParty (iOS).
It is a major branch of the family of patcher programming languages
known as Max (Max/FTS, ISPW Max, Max/MSP, etc), originally developed
by Miller Puckette at IRCAM.
Pd enables musicians, visual artists, performers, researchers, and
developers to create software graphically without writing lines of
code. Pd can be used to process and generate sound, video, 2D/3D
graphics, and interface sensors, input devices, and MIDI. Pd can
easily work over local and remote networks to integrate wearable

- Click Download — the developer's official website opens in a new tab.
- Download the latest version there and run it. Choose Custom/Advanced where offered, and skip any bundled extras.
- Prefer the command line? With Flatpak you can install and update it with: flatpak install flathub info.puredata.Pd-extended
- Open Pd-extended once it finishes installing.

Is Pd-extended free to download?
Yes. The Download button sends you to flathub.org, the developer's official site, where Pd-extended is available to download. Flatnic doesn't host or modify any files.
How do I install Pd-extended from the command line?
With Flatpak, run: flatpak install flathub info.puredata.Pd-extended. This installs it from the official source and keeps it updated.
Is Pd-extended safe?
Pd-extended downloads directly from the developer. As always, scan the installer with your antivirus and choose Custom setup to skip any bundled extras.
