About OpenToonz

This is software for producing a 2D animation.

It is based on the software "Toonz", which was developed

by Digital Video S.p.A. in Italy, customized by Studio Ghibli,

and has been used for creating its works for many years.

Dwango launched the OpenToonz project in cooperation

with Digital Video and Studio Ghibli.

How to install OpenToonz

  1. Click Download — the developer's official website opens in a new tab.
  2. Download the latest version there and run it. Choose Custom/Advanced where offered, and skip any bundled extras.
  3. Prefer the command line? With Flatpak you can install and update it with: flatpak install flathub io.github.OpenToonz
  4. Open OpenToonz once it finishes installing.
